Happy Earth Day

It has been so long, I thought I should post something on the website. We have been working diligently on our new property. There is still so much to do and update. BUT it is now time to focus some energy on the apiary. I am adding some new VHS bees to the apiary. My hope is to help reduce my use of organic chemical treatments and maybe eventually eliminate chemicals entirely. It is a journey. I will post some pictures of my new apiary soon.

World Bee Day May 20th

Sorry for the delay in posting. I have been busy in the wood shop and building/updating my weekly farmer’s market display.

I love the beginning of every season and spring brings blooms and new growth. Try to embrace the beauty of dandelions. They bloom early and support our pollinators with both pollen and nectar. This is crucial as they build up from the long winter season.

This is my tip/suggestion as World Bee Day is only a few days away. For more information go to the United Nations website at: https://www.un.org/en/observances/bee-day

Winter Update

I checked my 10 remaining colonies about a week ago. I have definitely lost 3 so far this year. This is why we call them WI hardy? The varroa destructor and brutal cold mornings put our bees to the test. They have plenty of honey and candy boards, so I am not concerned about winter resources. You can see I am testing 2 inch insulation around most of the hives. These are smaller colonies with some hives having 2 colonies inside. Fingers crossed…

Small Business Saturday

Thank you to Bobtown Brewery for holding a craft show to $upport $mall Businesses on Saturday!! What a fun time sampling local craft beers and seeing all the creative booths/tables at the show. We were glad to be a part of it and make new friends and customers. Thanks for stopping by and supporting our new business. Hope to see you all again soon.

It’s official – website launch

I am finally publishing my website. Please be kind with any suggestions. I hope you join us in our journey as we slowly turn our hobby into a sideline apiary business. Currently we are only selling products locally, like I said slowly. It is still hard to believe we created a business and now we have a website. I will try to post often, mostly with bee yard and pollination station updates. Until then, bee safe.
